4:30 am on the east coast of the USA and I'm still editing

It's been a good night and morning, but enough for one sitting. Audio in some scenes was scrubbed, de-noised, and sweetened a tad, one scene has impeccable audio/video syncing from different takes - that took hours and came out pretty good despite jamming it in there, and I think I finally settled on day for night between two monitors and much gnashing of teeth.

Anyhow, this could have been posted in post production, but I'm in a lobby type of mood. What have you been working on?

What have you been working on?
Been investigating distribution deals from Sundance.

Found nothing for 2010. :(

This 'poking about' has lead me to an interesting, new-to-me discovery:
Ex. http://www.deadline.com/2011/01/sundance-the-weinstein-company-inching-closer-to-the-details/
The Weinstein Company indeed closed this deal, and here are the details. I'm told the minimum guarantee was $7.5 million, with a P&A commitment upwards of $10 million. That makes The Details the largest minimum guarantee of the festival so far, though TWC's deal for My Idiot Brother (between $6 million-$7 million m.g.) had a larger P&A commitment, around $15 million.

Now, I'm not arguing against any sort of payment split for the right versus the promotion & advertising budget.

The obvious thing is that (being new-to-me) it seems "funny/odd to me" the routine SOP is to pay less for the rights than for the P&A.
Essentially "Here's $7 for your film I'll spend $10 to cluck and crow about".

I guess there are trickle-back royalties due "after expenses" (and that's a whole other discussion), so there's some kinda promise of or expression of intent for "future flowers"?
Pfft. Okay.

Would be fun to get offers with conflict:
A) $7M guarantee + $11M P&A commitment, or...
B) $6M guarantee + $15M P&A

I think I'd go with the most up front; screw P&A.

More research...

Nothing about the writer Adam Cohen.

I'm jealous. I read this when you first posted, but didn't get around to responding because I was at work on the overnight shift. I haven't had any time to work on any film projects, other than writing. I'm hoping that'll change soon; I'm signed up for the 48 Hour Film Project in Detroit next month. I had a short that I had hoped to film last month, but my lead dropped out and I ran into some personal financial difficulties, so that's put on indefinite hold.

Wrapping my edit on a new little web movie. With a puppet. Lots of green screen keying, lots of After Effects work, took five times longer than I ever imagined.

In other works, as much work as every movie!

Ooh! That sounds cool.

Puppets are awesome. The recent Newport Beach Film Fest had some great puppet-film representation.

Post your flick when it's done. Heck, post some pics of the work-in-progress!

What have you been working on?

1) Joining up with FlickerPictures & BrianLuce on Monday for a sweet Wickerman-influenced music video.

2) Preppin' roles for three upcoming films. I swear I'll be schizo by the time they're all done. :abduct:

3) Trollin' the forums

Yeah!

This "What are you working on" idea seems like a good idea for a running thread.

I just put out an ad in our local green room for a male actor for 1 page of dialog for a re-shoot of 1 scene on Thursday or Friday. I hope I get lucky. Is it unethical to advertise who the scene is with? ;)

Just win baby!

My project is on hold as i troubleshoot my DSLR and intervalometer to see which one is to blame for stopping midway between two timelapses.

The probability and hope is that it is the intervalometer.

Oy!

My sound guy just left a text message and said he can't make it to the Thursday 1pm shoot. I just overnighted one of those boom cradles that attaches to the top of a C-stand, but I'll be shooting and doing audio AGAIN!

It's one stationary 2 shot scene of about a page of dialog. Over the shoulder X2 and medium 2 shot + CU's - Wish me luck. I'm spinning plates while tying flies.

Joy! Actually, still having a blast.
