A SF short: C 299,792 km/s

This group created a kickstarter project for a SF film, asking for just over $18 grand, and they got $37 K, which allowed them to create this 15-minute SF short.

Instead of using CGI, they used models and kits to build spaceships, and they also used low-lighting to create their sets. I'm wondering how they made their corridors and space bridge for so little money. According to Wired magazine,

(t)he interior of the ship was a set built largely from particleboard and pegboards with clever lighting and projectors to create the environment.

I've no idea what that means, but I'm interested. Can anyone tell me more?
