Green Screening for Amateur Film-makers

Hey I could do with some suggestions for how I could make a flying cafe (urban spaceship)

I hope to make a short film with a cafe that launches into the sky (don't worry, it does have a real storyline) but I have just started in the film-making business. I have access to a studio with a green screen which is fine but how can I make an effect of a cafe launching off with my actors in the scene. I reckon it might have something to do with either model toys or Adobe After Effects (which I am not that experienced with). Anyone can help me out?

For whatever you need replaced, you'll want an appropriate colored chroma keyable surface. If the shot is moving, you'll also want to learn motion tracking. You could also rotoscope as an option.

You'll also need to shoot/create the appropriate backgrounds.

Since you don't know what you're doing, you'd be best to bring on a sfx supervisor/coordinator and/or do a lot of test shooting to learn what works and what doesn't.
