Then they should get real and realise writing music is a job, one that takes years of time and a lot of money to get started in.

I blame composers as much as anyone else for whoring themselves out "cheap" and "for free". If you don't value your music then NOBODY will. You should be paid hundreds of dollars for just one minute of music on a proper job. If your music really is of a high "quality" then it's worth someone paying for it. By saying it's cheap all you're telling people is that your music isn't actually that great or special. You encourage a "culture of free" (Dean Ogden) and in the long run all you do is damage yourself and everyone else around you.
