Read Through - Attract Investors

I'm looking to organise a 'read through' of my script for ta feature. Plan is too invite Producers and possible investors to attend with hope off attracting interest.

Has anyone any experience of organising anything similar? If so, any tips?

I know something like this is used in theatre. But for a movie
without big stars? Never heard of it.

Do you have connections with enough producers and possible
investors? I know I have difficulty getting an investor to talk
with me on the phone for 5 minutes; I can't imagine finding
one who will sit for 90 listening to a script being read.

Is this fairly common in your part of the world?

Not sure if fairly common, but it happens...Tried to make contact with few people who I know done it, but not yet received a response.....were I live the filmmaking community is smaller, so it's probably more possible to organsie than say London, America etc...

Are there enough producers and/or investors in your local
filmmaking community that will show up at a read through?

I'm curious out this - sounds great. I hope you can connect with
the people you know who have done it. I'd love to know how they
got producers/investors to show up and if they got any result.

Are you going to give it a try?

Did it once years ago for someone and had a potential investor show up. Don't know what happened. The filmmaker had some people read who were not going to be in the movie. I gave him a lot of notes that he didn't use. The investor was a producer of some low budget films.
