Who's got a feature film?

What's the name of your feature?

H.P. Lovecraft's Arkham Sanitarium

What's the logline and Synopsis of your feature?

"Some places are built evil"

Arkham Sanitarium is an anthology of three short stories faithfully adapted from the works of H.P. Lovecraft – each of the three stories is set in 1930’s New England (specifically Providence, Rhode Island and the fictional town of Arkham, Massachusetts). The stories are connected by an original ‘wraparound’ story. In this story – set in the 1950’s – Alice Crow investigates the strange stories surrounding the infamous Arkham Sanitarium.

The Haunter of the Dark
Robert Blake, author and artist returns to Providence to research a shadowy cult for his new book – against the warnings of his friend Ambrose Dexter he tracks down the old church where the cult performed their dark rituals – in the dusty, decrepit ruins he finds an ancient device that summons a monstrous creature intent on destroying him.

The Shunned House
Phillip Whipple, a Miskatonic University medical student returns to Providence to help his uncle Elihu move house. Phillip finds his uncle’s notes on ‘The Shunned House’ – an old, crumbling place with a bad reputation. Phillip was trapped there once as a child and saw something he couldn’t explain so with his uncle’s assistance, the pair seek to uncover why an alarming number of people have died there.

The Thing on the Doorstep
Edward Derby, a poet and fantasist, falls for Asenath, a cold but hypnotically beautiful student at Miskatonic University – the pair wed shortly after despite Edward’s close friend, Daniel Upton having concerns about the marriage. Daniel’s worries are well-founded - Asenath is the daughter of Ephraim Waite – an old man rumoured to be a practitioner of black magic before his recent death.

Really think this movie has a chance to be very special, right now aiming for major film festivals for the first year then secondary in 2013 if nothing happens.

What's the back-up plan?

That the movie stands out alone and even without distro can secure funding for a higher budget feature that we have planned.

Hopefully I won't get in trouble for bumping this thread. Anyone else out there willing to add to the list?

What's the name of your feature?

Tentative Title: Assassins

What's the logline and Synopsis of your feature?

Our super loose Synopsis: Life changed for Chris that Thursday evening. The brutal murder of his ex-girlfriend has left him shaken. More than that, he is haunted by the face of a man he doesn’t know, just a stranger Chris saw walking down the street moments before he opened the door to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. Moments before a large part of his world came crashing down.
And it is not about to get better.
Only a week later, Chris finds himself faced with yet another stranger, a man who claims to know who his ex-girlfriend’s killer is. The stranger’s name is Simon and the explanation he gives to Chris makes his blood run cold. The man who murdered his ex-girlfriend is an extremely dangerous man, a contract killer, and the fact that Chris has seen his face can only mean one thing: he will be coming back around to make sure Chris doesn’t share what he knows.
He will be coming soon to kill him.
Simon, a bounty hunter who has been tracking the mysterious killer for nearly a decade, has a plan. As he has never laid eyes on the killer, Simon will lure him out into the open so that Chris can identify him. Then he will take him down. But Simon might not be as helpful as he appears to be and Chris quickly finds himself becoming a pawn in a very deadly game of retribution between two savage men willing to do whatever it takes to see the other man dead.

We'd love to have distribution. We're currently in talks to try and attach a name or two, plus one of our leads was on the very popular Facebook viral campaign: Take this Lollipop.

What's the back-up plan?

This is part 1 of a trilogy and we will be using any good will we get for this film to raise money for a larger, more complex sequel.

I'll bite. Looks like I'll have the first documentary in the thread...

What's the name of your feature?

Laughter Against the Machine: The American Controversy Tour

What's the logline and Synopsis of your feature?

"W. Kamau Bell, Nato Green, and Janine Brito, three fearless comedians, are ready to unleash Laughter Against The Machine on America, whether America is ready or not! Laughter Against the Machine is a comedic peacekeeping mission to wade into the nastiest quagmires in the US, the flashpoints of American ignorance and upheaval. Like Comedy Central’s Insomniac with Dave Attell meets Democracy Now!, There may be blood, there may be learning, but there will definitely be laughter. "

This is a feature-length documentary following three liberal/progressive comedians as they leave the comfortable confines of their hometown crowds (SF bay area) and hit the road to visit US cities where recent political controversies have erupted. We hit Pheonix & Tucson, AZ (border & immigration issues), Madison, WI & Chicago, IL (union busting), New Orleans, LA (aftermath of Katrina), New York, NY (occupy wall street), Dearborn, MI (largest arab & muslim population in America), Washington, DC (lobbyist central) and finally came back to Oakland CA to wrap things up. More than just a comedy tour film, we spoke to activists on the ground in each of these cities to get first-hand accounts of their battles and find out where they think comedy fits into the political conversation.

Is it complete or being completed?

Production is complete - we did the tour and all principle filming between september - november 2011. We now have nearly 100 hours of footage, recently finished converting & syncing it all and we're starting the actual editing process. Our first public screening is in a couple of weeks as we preview 15-20 minutes at SF Sketchfest, a local comedy festival. Our plan is to wrap post by late spring/early summer in order to start distributing it in time to capitalize on increased political interest due to the upcoming election.

How long were you in production (from pre-to-post)?

It's still in progress, but looks to be 10-12 months total by the time we're finished.

Do you see distribution in your future or have you been distro'd?

We're in early discussions for television distribution, but that won't really get too concrete until the film is finished.

What's the back-up plan?

Not really a back up plan so much as a plan - finding distribution on television, dvds, etc through a distributor is almost more the backup plan. We'll likely tour the film ourselves with the comedians to do special screening events wherever possible. We expect to sell DVDs and other merchandise as part of the tour, as well as do a direct cheap & simple download option online similar to what Louis CK did last year. We funded the tour through kickstarter, and we can handle the full post process ourselves, so our only real investment in the project is time - and we'll be turning a profit from the very first ticket, dvd or download sold. This gives us a ton of freedom to be flexible with our distribution approach and adapt it to whatever proves to be most successful.

But, she knows some tricks that will help Nancy get noticed. George Charles has landed a financier for his drama/horror script "The Missing". Now, he has to cast his Leading Lady. Is it complete or being completed?

Damn thing should have been done by now.

How long were you in production (from pre-to-post)?

I wanted to do this in 2009 with Brandon, but we couldn't find a Nancy. It's a tough role. Finally in the beginning of 2011 I cast the movie. Fired the two lead actresses and recast. So, we've started shooting again. Brandon (Tim from Us Sinners) is on-board. So, we're starting "real" shooting next week.

Do you see distribution in your future or have you been distro'd?

Absolutely. Us Sinners was a very good starting point. We learned a lot from all the mistakes we made. We're not making the same one's again. So, we already have a few distributors interested. Including one of the one's that turned down Us Sinners for lack of T&A. Yeah, big F***ing mistake that one.

What's the back-up plan?

Go on a killing spree. Go ahead keep laughing.

www.theluckyones.biz

Just started 3 month pre-production-12 day shoot-I want it premiered by the week of December 21, 2012. All private screenings, under ground distributorship, World premiere at Sundance-win best NEXT films award.

Low budget, killer script, starting to story board. Trying to make a timeless film push the limits.

My first producing effort. Turned an idea into a script. After less than spectactular response from "film" companies, figured I'd do it myself. When I say myself, I mean with a lot of help.

First auditions next Friday, filming should start beginning of May.

No back up plan. All in.

Just kidding, I have a contracting job and my wife is a nurse. A winter hobby that will be the NEXT film.

Completed

How long were you in production (from pre-to-post)?
I started developing the story back in August of 2010. I had to push back the production start date two times. I was finally able to start production the first week of September 2011. That was after changing elements of the story and going through a handful of talent.

Do you see distribution in your future or have you been distro'd?
At first that was the plan. Within the last month, I have decided just to upload the film for free. The main reason for that is the following. When my next film comes out, people have an idea what to expect. They will be able to access the film for free. That's my mindset at the moment.

What's the back-up plan?
None
