Home made Jib/Crane

Hello guys,

I'm looking in to making my own home made Jib which i can extend up to a 5m crane. So what i was wondering was whether any of you had any experience making them and if so could offer up some advice on areas of it that might be difficult/ materials to use etc.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Jonny

Mine has a 14-foot rise, which falls under your 5m specification, but it's pretty close.

It was adapted from several different plans available on the Internet.

Main boom is a length of chain-link fence pipe. Rocker arm is angle aluminum. Pivot is a heavy-duty caster with the wheel removed. Camera mount is a heavy-duty mechanical tripod head. Counter-weights are barbell weights.

That looks very interesting. I'm very interested in hearing any problems anyone encountered along the way and how/if they fixed them. Does it suffer from much shake or is it pretty solid?

Cheers mate. Great looking Jib!
