filmmaker in the making (NC STATE STUDENT)

I just found this blog today while browsing the web and thought it would serve as a great resource. I am an upcoming Senior at NC STATE university and just recently learned how to work Final Cut Pro, a VX2100 camera, and some basic sound equipment. I just finished piecing together a few very short films and am currently editing a slightly longer one.
I've always been fascinated by film, but it wasn't until a couple of years ago that I decided that I wanted to make a career out of it. The first two years of college I wandered through course work and had vague ambitions of some sort of career in Psychology.
On a whim I took a horror film class my Sophomore year and it became the turning point in my college career. I was introduced to such innovative directors as Kurosawa and Brakhage, and revolutionary films like "Peeping Tom" and "Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari." I immediately knew that I wanted to make films.

So here I am today. A year away from graduating and a short film series in production. I am looking forward to meeting film enthusiasts who I can learn from, help, and share ideas. I can't wait to start meeting some members and I am confident will come away from this forum with an greater knowledge and appreciation for film.

Welcome Grasshopper!

I'm one of the audio guys here.

Keep in mind that the search function is your friend. Everyone here is always very glad to help you out, but a lot of the "basics" questions have been asked and answered many times.

And always remember:

"Young man, how is it that you do not?"

Welcome TZB. Since you're in Raleigh, ya might wanna check out the Triangle Video and Film Production Group...I think you can find them by Googling "Meet-Up Raleigh Film making" They meet once or twice a month and are a very friendly bunch.

And good luck on all your current and future projects.
