errors omissions insurance anybody have experience in this

errors omissions insurance I know what it is but this insurance is more than my budget.

What if I don't get it and sell it VOD ?

Does anybody have experience in Dealing with distribution ?

No experience with it, though it depends on the required deliverables (deliverables includes both media and documentation). Some VOD platforms require it, from my understanding, most do not. If you want to go the VOD route, I'd talk with some VOD aggressors to their requirements and costs to get on to each platform.

If you're going to sell it yourself, you have the choice whether to get it or not. Distributors tend to want protection in case you've opened up legal liabilities.

Out of interest, what was the quote(s) for E&O Insurance for your film? Did you wait until your film was finished to get a quote?

I know what E&O insurance is, but I don't know how it applies to film - perhaps someone can teach me. :)
What Errors & Omissions insurance does is indemnify producers from lawsuits that may arise from the content of a production, including lawsuits alleging (a) infringement of copyright, (b) libel or slander, (c) invasion of privacy, (d) plagiarism or unauthorized copying of ideas, (e) defamation or degrading of products (trade libel), and (f) infringement on title, slogan, or trademark.

I have a lot of experience dealing with distributors.

If you don't get E&O and you sell it VOD and some company sues then
it will be you, personally, who is used.

Hmm, I thought that would be liability insurance, as opposed to E&O. Are you sure it's E&O, Rik?

Rik is correct.

Some more homework for the OP (and the rest of us would benefit from being fluent, or at least conversationally intelligent, at.)

I'm surprised it's as expensive as cited, between $2-5k.
Goodness.

There's an interesting questionnaire for this quote link that may be good to be aware of:

E&O is a subset type of liability insurance. Distributors don't care about most liability insurances (equipment loss/damage, workers compensation etc), they do care about E&O. It's the insurance that protects them from the filmmakers (potential) screw ups.

Yes I am.

As Sweetie pointed out, there is a difference. One is insurance for production
issues, the other is for potential distribution issues. Are you a little surprised
I know about the business I have been in for my entire life?

You're right, and I stand corrected.
