How do you format a script that moves rapidly between two locations?

What I man is, say you want to show two kids at home while their parents are out - making a huge mess. They pick up the phone and hear that their mum and dad are heading back home from doing the shopping.

You then want to rapidly alternate between the parents driving home, and the children frantically trying to clean the place up. Back and forth, from one to the other. How do you write the header for this scene, and do you use columns for the directions and dialogue or what?

There are various ways to do this. Probably the most common method uses INTERCUT.

They are detailed in the screenwriting format guides.

The most common usage is for telephone conversations were you are jumping quickly from one location to another.
