watch Feature: Somewhere Between Here and Now

Hello!

my name is Olivier Boonjing. I'm a producer/director based in Brussels, Belgium. I would like to invite you to have a look at my first feature called "somewhere between here and now". It's a ultra low budget self-financed feature that was finished in May 2009.

Here's the synopsis:

Louise comes back to Belgium after a long trip in Asia, but is reluctant to go home. She postpones the moment to come home. In Brussels North Station Adrian notices Louise. He is about to leave. Instead of taking his train, he follows her. Unlike Louise, he postpones the moment to leave. What follows is a backpacking trip through Brussels at night. They are in a moment in between, not yet gone, not yet arrived, in a huge transit zone, called Brussels. A place that makes surprising encounters possible, an inter-cultural, inter-national area. How to experience the home land as a foreign country? A reflection on travel as a state of mind, and home as a feel.

On the movie's website, you'll find the trailer, blogger, facebook and vimeo links: www.somewhere-themovie.com

We've just started sending it to festivals. The world premiere took place at the Brussels Film Festival in June 2009 (www.fffb.be). It won the Telenet Prime Audience Award.

It was shot on a Sony FX1 (PAL) with a SGPro Rev2 35mm adapter and Sigma lenses (20/24-70/70-300). Intro (not in trailer) was shot with two small Panasonic FX12 digital still camera in video mode. Edited on Premiere CS3, CC in After Effects CS3 using the Cineform codec.

We don't have any distributor, nor sales agent,... Our goal for now is simply to find an audience, get people to see it and hear their reactions. It's a first feature for the whole cast and crew, we all hope it will help us finding new projects. If you have any questions, I'll be very pleased to answer.

Thanks for reading this, I hope you'll enjoy it.

Best regards,

Olivier Boonjing

Looks great man. You're male lead seems quite powerful. I wish you all the best of luck with this film and hope to see it in its entirety in the near future.

Hey, I'd have to say that looks incredible. The plot is interesting, the acting looks fantastic, crystal clear cinematography and a great trailer (I had to watch it twice). To be honest, this looks like it could be one of the best, most well-produced indie films I've seen around here in a while! Have you submitted it to the Toronto International Film Fest?

I'm not sure if you've heard/seen-of "Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist", but for some reason the trailer made me think that this was kind of a more "adult" (not porn) version of that kind of story- two people meet and fall in love over one night while experiencing a city... and for some reason I just happen to be a sucker for those kinds of films. Anyway, just wanted to wish you luck with getting distribution! Keep us posted here on the progress and where it's playing!

BTW, if there is a chance to see the full film, I'd love to watch it! My email is godofwine007@gmail.com

Anyway, again, great work!

Thank you very very much Dennis!

We sent it to the Toronto Film Festival and received the answer only two days ago: we're unfortunately not selected. The list of films selected is pretty impressive, many, many of my favorite directors...

I've seen the trailer of that film, I can see a possible link. SBHAN is less of a romance in the end, the romance part is a lot about past stories so to say.

Thanks again! We keep our fingers crossed ;)

Olivier

PS: I've sent you a link by e-mail, hope you'll like it

It looks amazing!

I have to say, I have only been on this site for a day and am amazed at the talent that is on this website.

It truly does gve me inspiration to further my filmmkaing skill-set.

Brilliant!!! :)

Website update and DVD release

Hello everybody,

After one year and a couple of festivals, we finally updated the website: http://www.somewhere-themovie.com

We had the chance to see the movie screened in very different conditions and I must say most of the times the quality of the projector has more influence than the screening format. Digibeta on a brand new Barco is a thousand times better than HDCam on a low quality HD projector. A bit scary also to see how bad digital screenings are at most festivals and I don't even talk about sound.

The movie will be available on DVD beginning of July. Online order will be possible on the movie's website. We remastered image and sound for this release as we discovered a couple new tricks since we finished the movie ;)

All the best,

Olivier
