The Earth's biosphere has a quantifiable zero-sum biomass limit.
There's only so much living sh!t you can put on a dinner plate or tectonic plate.
The more of species A-M there are the fewer N-Z there will be.
The more A-E the fewer F-M.
Diversity numbers can go up and down, but the mass of all that has a limit.
The more energy and materials humans actively consume the more environment gets "converted" into a lower entropy state meaning species less capable of harvesting that energy and materials are going to go extinct.
Specialists die. Generalists thrive.
It's all energy economy.

Males are just a smidgen over half the human population (a vestigial trait) yet compose the overwhelming majority of prison population.
What does that tell anyone about male behavior?

When gender selection of offspring becomes a reality the practical position for insurance companies will be to drop coverage of more expensive males.
Female reproductive systems are already a huge liability/expense, so until we can mooooove that whole entire process out of the body everything will just have to stay put.
But the moment reliable ex vitro gestation becomes a reality? BAM! Your insurance premiums will drop when you elect to get that cr@p pulled out of your body - or - if your parents elect to not burden you with them at all.

People used to think they needed all sorts of things from slaves to land lines.
"How would I know if I was wealthy if I didn't have Hebrews/Greeks/Negros"?
"How would I know... why do I have a land line for the house? Isn't everything on a cell phone now"?

You may need one. (If you can find one that isn't stupid, mean, thoughtless, inconsiderate, rude, disgusting, etc).
