watch Let In Let Down - Pop Punk Music Video

Hey everybody, just wanted to share a fun project we made recently. It's a punk pop music video that we shot in a slight homage to the 'one-take' music video blended with my affinity for early 2000s punk performance videos.

Some technical stuff, for those of you who might be interested..
We shot on a Canon C200 with a single 35mm f/1.4 lens. We used a DJI Ronin (yes, the original generation Ronin) to help stabilize the camera and a Blackmagic Video Assist as a monitor. The "crew" was just two of us, so we vaguely split roles into Director & Cinematographer, although in reality we operated camera pretty evenly and when it's only two of you, you just get done whatever needs to happen.
It look us around 8 or 9 takes to nail the opening continuous take. The trickiest parts were getting the timing of the lead singer's walk perfect so that he hit the smoking cars just at the moment we wanted him too.

Speaking of smoke, I tested out and used a super cool technique for the fog machine. Essentially you just grab one of these things: https://amzn.to/2CIkPN9 and then DON'T FILL IT WITH BUG POISON, instead fill it up with this: https://amzn.to/2QlD0e4. Then screw in a cute lil propane tank and you're in outdoor fog heaven. I liked it so much that we ended up using it extensively for all of the performance shots in the second half of the video.

I'd love to hear your thoughts or answer any questions! It's definitely not a perfect video, but I'm trying to get better.

Cheers,
Luke Covert
