What does your shooting script look like?

I was originally going to make this available on Lulu.com for print, but never got around to it and I don't think it would have turned out to be a bestseller anyhow! Much easier to make it available digitally. If you're interested, here's a look at the shooting script for my feature On the Fringe, shot in 1999.

Give it a chance to load. Might take a few seconds...

What does your shooting script look like after it's been through production? Coffee stains? Ripped pages? Sweat from your brow? Blood from your actors? Vomit from the critics? ;)

If you have any, post some samples here for fun. :pop: *if you'd like a gratis copy of the DVD, PM me and I'll happily send you one.

Yeah, me too. Funny, I'm cringing at some of what I wrote, most of it we actually shot. I crammed way, way too much into this script for a first feature, but lessons learned. That's why DVDs are such a blessing -- all those cut scenes!

On the last page, I literally wrote: A mockingbird is carrying on... WTFWIT!? Hysterical.

Annnnd cue the mockingbird! Would someone please cue the mockingbird?? Who's handling the mockingbird!?? :director:

Cool, man. That's fun. I wish I would've kept my notebook. I didn't have an official shooting script. Honestly, it's cuz this production was so low budget that I cut costs in every way I could think of -- only the four lead actors had printed scripts! I stayed organized mostly in Excel. We worked from the actors' scripts, while on set, and if I needed to take notes, I put them in my notebook. I tried tracking it down, and all I could find is this page. This is what my shot-list looks like for a typical scene.

Whoa! Now those are some serious notes. Awesome. Dig the action column. Really great to see how a screenplay gets translated into a professional working schematic for production. Thanks for sharing.

My original shooting scripts. Some of them have scenes X'd off, like Jeff Palmer's.

The last 5 years, I've started making Scene Lists. I was able to condense a 100 page script to 5 pages. This works great as a checklist and is quick to search. This page has 34 scenes on it:

I like the ideas outlined here. Who offers standard set-ups for a shot list and the note pages as outlined above.

Sorry to be so dense. I have a number of scripts, but that's as far as they've gotten. I'd like to actually make something some day.
