There are lots of movies set in a dream. It can be a good plot device, so long as it's not a lazy way out to solve the problems - a good example of that lazy way is the Dallas TV series, when the crucial events were all a dream and it was back to normal for the cast.

The audience doesn't care if it's a dream or not. As long as the story makes sense; that's all that matters.
