That is filled with fantastic! When do they need the press kit by? A month and a half should be time to get a few reviews together. I see you've got an alternative newsweekly there in richmond ( http://www.altweeklies.com/aan/Directories/Newsweeklies), might be worth a phonecall to see if you can't get an expedited review, if you haven't from them. Hell, they might even do a feature on you, depending on the editorial staff (the City Paper here in Pittsburgh is pretty good with reviews and features on local film/art/music people).
Awesome stuff! I hope the run goes well!

Wow, that's a great list. Thanks, Josh!
Style Weekly wrote up a nice piece for us when we had the unofficial world premiere at a local theater.
I'm actually planning on using this NY screening as a reason to convince one of our local theaters to screen us for a week. Maybe the NY screening kind of legitimizes us enough that they might consider it. Should that happen, then I'd definitely be hitting up both Style and the Richmond Times Dispatch for reviews. But that's just hypothetical at the time being.
From the list you posted, there actually is a paper in NY I'm going to contact. The Village Voice has written reviews for other movies that screened at reRun, so hopefully they can do that for us.

Thanks, guys!
PTP, I don't know what it means to "DM with some deets", otherwise I'd be all over that.
H44, DVD distribution would be fantastic. But it is true that profit was never the goal of this movie. Mostly, it was just kind of my way to scream to the world, "Hey, look what I can do!". Ironically, now that some people are finally seeing it, I'm like, "damn, I can do much better than that."
Anyway, there are a number of different ways in which I think this film is already serving it's originally-intended purpose, and if I can find a way to make even a few thousand bucks, that'd be gravy.

Congratulations.
A good ad campaign in newspapers will cost more money than you can make back in tickets sales with unknowns.
Good luck!

Same goes for a certain man behind a certain curtain.

That's awesome! I might just be in NYC around that time (I know I want to go down at least 1-2 more times this year), and will definitely go if I am. Looks like an awesome theater!

Yes, please post the time, address and all those good things.
I'm ashamed to say I could not attend a festival in the Hamptons with free tickets from the owner due to my financial situation being so bad.

MDM, I hear you on the financial woes. Summer is so slow at my place of work that I was basically just saved by my former roommate moving back in for a few months. Had that not happened, I wouldn't be typing this (cuz utilities would've been cut off).
Mara, I forgot you live in the area. That's great! And thanks for the interest, Cameron.
I'll definitely post all the details, as the day nears.

Congrats, the rerun is well regarded here in NYC. You should ask the theater if they send out screeners of your film to the media for review. If they do then that's great. If they don't then you need to get cracking on your own to get screeners to the film critics at the Times, Voice, etc. If you have at least a week-long engagement (which you do) and you get a screener to the critics in due time, then you will absolutely get reviews during the week that your film opens from the daily and weekly publications. Normally a publicist does all this, but you can also do it yourself.
You should reach out to Indiewire and get them a screener too. The last NYC release I had, Indiewire gave me a big write-up and interviewed me, it was very helpful. Granted we had a publicist, but if not I would have contacted them myself. And if you are playing the rerun they will get back to you, trust me.
As far as advertising, sure, you can stand around and hand out flyers, but there is a guy who specializes in putting them up in the right places that you might want to look into. Just google "martin flyerguy nyc" and you'll find him. He goes around on a bike and puts up your flyer in businesses that your target audience would frequent. I'm not sure if he does Brooklyn, but if you have him put up flyers in the East Village in Manhattan it would be optimal. Don't bother with any other parts of Manhattan. I think his rates run from like 200-700 depending on the job. Something to think about.
If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.
Cheers
