If you look at your fuse box, you should be able to get an idea of how many circuits you have, and what those circuits cover.
Gaffers will spend location prep days going through the circuits and finding the limits, what outlets equate to what circuits etc. so that he can decide on where to plug in the lights, and designate what power will be used for general power (ie for makeup and hair, for camera power/charging, for the kettle/coffee machine etc.) and where the power will come from (lots of extension chords etc.)

Assuming you have access to it... I've had to call lunch early while we waited for a costudian to come in from home to trip a breaker we had popped.

I carry a minimum of 300' when I shoot + a car converter in case we're somewhere there's no access to power... and light socket taps to suck power where there's no access to outlets... and prong adaptors to deal with non-grounded outlets. And a socket tester to be able to see if there's power getting from point A to point B.
