Have you seen this grisly news?

New video shows more grisly details of face-eating attack in Miami --The Miami Herald

It's as disturbing and nasty as much as the horror fiction out there. It's really not surprising. People are animals. Sometimes animals do this sort of thing. I suppose it would be more shocking, though, if the attacker and the victim were members of the upper or middle classes. As it is, the victim, at least (sounds like they're not sure about the attacker), is one of the underclass, the forgotten, the unvalued. I suppose you have to suspect that this sort of thing happens to such people more often than shows up on surveillance video or on police reports. Anyway, could be food for thought for you horror fiction writers and filmmakers.

That is disturbing. The first thing that came to mind when I read this was Zombies. Not to make light of the situation but that is what it seems like to me.

I read that police suspect he was under the influence of the new bath salt drugs. They have been linked to a lot of very violent episodes lately.

I'd heard something about that recently--probably through Facebook or something like that. Maybe Twitter.

But yeah, that's as grisly and macabre as it gets!....George Romero would be proud!

They just had a piece on CNN about it. Supposedly it might have been "bath salts" which act like LSD, only they're legal and you can get them at gas stations.

A cop who was there commented on another case, where a guy stripped, was hit by a cab. Got up, jumped on the cab. The guy was beating the passengers. It took 15 cops to subdue him.

This all came from CNN. Of course toxicology reports aren't possible yet. But, this is what they're saying.

Why can't folks stick with crack, meth or heroin?

Yeah saw this yesterday. Zombie jokes aside, this was pretty disturbing. Don't do drugs kids.

There's something tranquil and appealing about the palms blowing in the wind, and yet you know that above, in the upper left corner there's something horrific and so very wrong is happening.

You know, not to be critical of our brave and heroic EMTs, but as I watch that video, seeing the mulitple squad cars arrive, I'm left wondering why it seems to be taking an ambulance and medical assistance to arrive for the victim. Or, are they just off camera?

It usually depends on your general personality. I've seen aggressive people get pretty mean when they're stoned. I just get stupider.

Yeah. I see now that perhaps it wasn't the best judgement to post this thread. I didn't mean to open a door to or encourage an influx of gore material here. Perhaps grim news such as this should not find its way onto this forum just as politics and religion should not. Should this thread be deleted or the link removed?

The link you posted is to a reputable news source, one which understands that it's not really a big deal to show video of tiny-little shadowy stick-figures doing something that we know is gruesome, but which we cannot actually see. There is absolutely no comparison between this thread and the other. In my opinion, your thread is just fine. The other thread, not so much.

But that's because you're a hypocrite. Violence is violence. You can say "you can't see it" BIG DEAL it's still HAPPENING. It's still GRUESOME. It's still DISGUSTING!

Reputable news source. CNN has a picture of the guy dead. Is that OK because CNN is a reputable news source. HYPOCRITE. That's what you are.

Oh and RICHY this is big news, there's nothing wrong with it. BTW did you search out the snuff film?

Richy, you're obviously a decent person. The link you posted is like a TMZ video of celebrity side-boob, compared to the other link posted, which is more like hardcore porn (except in this porn, someone dies).
