On the 11th November 2011, the date read 11/11/11. To mark this unique, auspicious date, people from all around the world were invited to use their video/digital cameras, microphones, mobile phones or email to reveal what life was like for them on planet earth. This global storytelling initiative brought people from 179 different countries together to express to humanity a vision of "a day in the life of the world".
The footage, audio, text and photographic material is in the process of being collated in order to be used as the ingredients for a variety of 11Eleven Project initiatives, including a feature-length documentary film, a photographic book, a gallery exhibition and a world music collection.
Fundamentally, the project aims to bring communities together and hopes to plant a seed of compassion. By bringing the world together as one, we open up the opportunity for people to view our planet as a singular entity. This is an opportunity to illustrate the commonalities amongst all people and to witness the shared experience amongst every human being living on Planet Earth. With this representation may come an enlightened sense of global awareness, responsibility and recognition.
The 11Eleven Project Film is being released globally on 21/09/12 but you can check out the first sneak peek of some of the content received here:
