Wheatgrinders Monthly IT Challenge For March 2011

Announcing Wheatgrinders Monthly IT Challenge For March 2011

The Challenge area for March is Cinematography

Last month was a smashing success. Kudos to the artistry exhibited. All who participated won fabulous prizes and cash.. (thats a blatant lie by the way) see the submission thread for more http://www.indietalk.com/showthread.php?t=28819

So lets do another.. here are the rules\timeline in review..

Here is the time line in review:

  1. "Challenge Area" Announced:
On the FIRST Monday in MARCH Ill tell everyone what the "Challenge Area" will be (Cinematography) DONE
  2. Suggestion Box Open:
From that Monday through Thursday everyone suggests specific challenges that support the main focus
Were doing this ^^^ now, just reply here with your ideas of what a Cinematography challenge could be. The challenge needs to be doable in a weekend. Thats about the only real requirement.
  3. Suggestion Box Closed:
On Friday I gather up all the ideas that meet my strict yet completely arbitrary criteria and I set up a poll
  4. Vote:
    Voting over the weekend.
  5. Challenge Details Announced:
On the 2nd Monday in March the challenge is announced.
  6. Make the movies
    duh
  7. Upload the movies
Everyone, and I mean everyone, even if you didn't vote, or are afraid of clowns, has until 11:59 PM on the Sunday before the the first Monday in April to upload

Thats it, everything else is left to your interpretation.

Upload to youtube and post embed in the yet to be created submission thread, preferred, but whatever...

Please Note:
The 1st place prize is nada, 2nd place prize is zilch and 3rd place gets nothin.
There are NO rules, ignore the challenge details if you want, though I reserve the right, and encourage others, to type in all caps..
"BAD FORM! BAD FORM!" if your so tactless as to do something so antisocial as to "topic crash!"

Challenge Name: "Your favourite Object"
Challenge Description: "make an advert or promotion for your favourite object in under a Minute. Audio dubbing would be nice"
Challenge Limitations: "No nudity!"

Since this a CINEMATOGRAPHY challenge, I vote to make the clip silent, allowing the image and camera work to speak for itself. The finished submission should be no longer than 1 minute.

My 2 cents.

I second this one! (Because my shorts HAVE no dialogue! :D) I'd be up for this one!

I like this too, midnight to midnight might be hard but I love my city :D

wow, this monthly challenge is getting a lot of traction and interest, should we keep taking ideas, or put all the ideas up for vote now and get a head start on this challenge for this weekend? what say you?

Waiting might sap the enthusiasm. I vote that we vote.

I just want to be clear with my post before. That wasn't so much a specific challenge to not use sound, but rather, whatever challenge is agreed upon, I think it could be cool to go MOS, since this is for cinematography. Just an idea, doesn't mean it will stick.

I like the macro idea AND the city tour idea. They're all good, in fact!
