    also, im having a hard time realizing what the beachtek will do as far as balancing the sound. is it necessary to have a phantom powered beachtek to achieve the full benefits of an XLR mic? thanks for the help guys.

    Since I first posted this, I have purchased a Canon HV30. It seems to me that the Beachtek Dx-2s is a good option and I'll be price hunting for that pretty soon. Will, do you have a boom mic that you would recommend? (price range somewhere around $200-300 would be nice..)
