How to get my first producer assistant job?

The stunt work I did was for a major stunt coordinator, but it was uncredited work on two television productions. Basically, the stunt coordinator is the uncle of a good friend and there were two occasions where he needed someone to fill in for some quick stunt work when the guy they hired...

How to get my first producer assistant job?

Ok, guys; I have a few more questions if you don't mind helping me out by answering them for me. :) I have everything set to move out to LA on May 9th, a little earlier than I originally expected -- but I'm in a hurry to get started. I'm looking to get started as a producer assistant and work...

    Starting out as a producer?

Awesome! Thank you, WideShot! That's exactly what I wanted (and needed) to hear. :)

    Starting out as a producer?

I guess no one knows a realistic turnaround? :/ Anyone? I'm really curious....

    Starting out as a producer?

One more question, if you guys don't mind. What's a realistic turnaround time for going from unpaid to paid? 6 months, 1 years, 2 years... ? I am going to be working my ass off, never turning down a day to work and always following the on time mantra:

    Starting out as a producer?

Thanks, Blade! I've got both of these on order as well. :) All of you guys rock!

    Starting out as a producer?

Thanks, Rik! I am fine with making less than minimum wage once I do start getting paid. I'll do whatever I have to do to make it. Even $400-$500 a week would be enough to cover rent and expenses with a roommate. So I'd be good.

    Starting out as a producer?

One other question I just thought about, can anyone give me a ballpark monthly income for someone just starting out in those positions (being a producer assistant / working at a prod co)? Would I more-than-likely have to start out working for free and work towards getting paid? Just trying to...

    Starting out as a producer?

Just bought the book off of Amazon! Thanks, Joe! Awesome, thank you. :) I'm glad someone in the industry agrees with me that it's a good plan! Makes me feel like I'm getting somewhere. I'm going to buy both of the books you recommended. Thank you to all of you, seriously. I love this place...

    Starting out as a producer?

Hey guys! Long time, no see! I've been thinking lately on how I'm going to go about getting my foot in the door in the film industry, and the more I think about it, the more I am leaning towards starting out as a producer. I am looking at it like this (and please correct me if I'm wrong); I...

    Cloverfield

I had a lot to drink before going out, so my interpretation of damn near everything about the movie may be way off. :) I'll probably watch it again when it comes out on DVD.

    Cloverfield

I watched it opening night... I'll say that it's a pretty good action film, but I absolutely hated every single character in the entire movie. I felt as if the director didn't even try to get the audience emotionally attached to a single character. I didn't care if they lived or died, they were...

    Phone usage in scripts ?

What? Your mentor has told you to avoid phone dialog? That makes almost no sense at all... Some of the most important plot points are made during phone dialog. Maybe you're writing a crime thriller and the killer calls the protagonist detective to slip an important clue... Surely you would not...

    Killing the Protagonist

Awesome, thanks Filmy. Lots of examples in the Wikipedia article are a lot more subtle than I had in mind... and are obvious exceptions, I have no idea why I didn't think about them as good examples.

    Killing the Protagonist

I am writing a new screenplay and tossing around the idea of getting the audience attached to the primary Protagonist only for the Antagonist to kill him unexpectedly near the end of the second act...Leaving the audience clueless as to how the story will end until the Antagonist ends up as the...

    HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray

I feel like a physic. It would be awesome if the Blu-Ray camp did help with the conversion, completely unexpected -- but hell, Sony would probably just being doing it to rub it in the face of HD-DVD, they finally made a format that didn't flop after some 30 years.

    HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray

Ah, I did forget about Universal! I still think there's a large chance Paramount and anyone else that has signed exclusive contracts could opt to buy out the remaining deal on the contract if it make sense for them business wise. I mean, there's no way Paramount would sit idly by with crappy HD...

    HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray

Yup, only major studio left is Paramount and I'm sure they'll cave within the next 3 months. That was a rather short battle.
