    Starting out in the industry

I can't say that I have really made my way into the industry. I have worked on scores for a couple of indie video games, which all got cancelled. Most no-to-low-budget games will never get finished. I've also scored one short film, for which my score was rejected due to budget reasons. I think...

watch 'Girl in Red' short film

Okay, some constructive criticism. :) There's one thing that sticks a little, and that's the reverb on the girl shouting "oy, twat" or something like that at 2:15. It sounds like she's in a hall or some other highly reverbant space, rocky valley or something, which doesn't really fit the scene...

    watch Short Drama/Action Trailer

Hi! I pieced together a trailer from some video footage I had lying on my hard disk. So my part in this thing was limited to editing and music. Didn't have that many tools at my disposal (eh, copy/paste & cut), so it's very basic. Still, I'd like to hear what you think about it...

Demo reels for composers: What are directors looking for?

That's a good question, I'd like to know the answer, too. Making an effective (audio) demo reel is difficult, especially as composing stand-alone tracks is different to composing for picture. You might be able to compose very good music, but have problems with evoking certain emotions and making...

Film Composer/Scorer, And Or Background Music

Hi! Your film concept is interesting, and it's a good thing you've got most of the video footage shot. I'm a composer with a little experience in film scoring, nothing big obviously, but I have the scoring process figured out. I love writing orchestral and hybrid orchestral music, which would...

    Which recording has more noise?

Yes, it does sound a little more distorted. Althought I'd guess it's not technically distortion, but the natural sound of the throat vibrating. I can't say which one is better, it depends on what kind of an effect you're aiming for.

    Which recording has more noise?

The second scream sounds much more distant and less powerful than the first one.

    Looking for investors

When I first opened this thread and started reading it, I thought the OP was a spam bot. Then I kept reading on and saw that he actually posted here after the initial post as well. Anyway, though the story seems to ok'ish, I doubt you'll get any investors, except for maybe a couple of...

Opinions on High Frame Rate films? (I think that's what it's called)

The reason why 24 fps might look better than the "upscaled" HFR on TVs is, that the TV artificially creates the missing frames, and that doesn't look as natural as the recorded 24 fps. With that said, I'm confident that given some time to get accustomed to it, most people will prefer the higher...

Opinions on High Frame Rate films? (I think that's what it's called)

Even though the human eye and brain perceives 24 fps as continuous movement instead of a slide show, practically ayone is able to tell the difference between say 24 fps and 48 fps, or 48 fps and 100 fps. The main difference being that with a higher fps, all the movement on the screen is more...
