Be very careful...you can have a lawsuit. Get all applicable licences and copyright holdings. You need deep pockets or you can go to creative commons and look for royalty free tracks.

You can do it with regular or special "time lapse video cameras." I prefer to utilize photo cameras 95 percent of the time. Photo cams give you more range as well as effect in the finished product.

There are many DIY projects for sliders and other gear. Some are well worth it. Try it out and see the results for yourself. You can always add on to the project to make it even better. Good luck :)
A film I am currently working on utilizing mostly time lapse effects. It is a film of the unusual and surreal. This is not a proper "trailer" but more of a 'teaser' as it it over 7 minutes in duration. Enjoy, and I welcome critique.
