I agree, the film has it's flaws. IMO, we needed a more satisfying conclusion that tied up loose ends, particularly the mortgage and revenge on the Boss. Lesson learned. The editor (a fellow student of mine) expected me to add the credits and a blooper reel. That is why he kept the song playing...

Reminded me of the film Trick r Treat, which was bad ass. The look and color was spot on for a Halloween flick (great production design). Lots of interesting shots. Especially enjoyed the staircase sequence. The two psychos did a fine job. All in all, solid short

I'm just curious as to everyone's tips on achieving the so called "film look". Been editing for about 3 months w FCP. I've been duplicating the clip, adding Gauss Blur to top layer, radius about 10 and setting composite to soft light. Then 3 way Color Corrector as needed. Important side note...

It kind of warped into a neo noir horror/thriller. It's basically about a young guy experiencing these vivid and terrifying nightmares. He must escape his home and go on a journey to find some peace.

Start with a basic concept or theme. A topic that interests you and that you can invest time in. Maybe take a drive around the city you live in and find locations you can shoot at. And remember to focus on your character(s) first and foremost. Go people watching at a coffeeshop. Think about that...
