I submitted one of my shorts this year but I just got rejected. Here's the lovely letter: Thank you for submitting, 'What I've Done' for consideration for SXSW 2013. It’s thrilling as well as daunting for us to have so much fascinating work to sift through. Unfortunately, your film did not...

    Nashville Film Fest

It gets better, I just received a rejection from Tribeca Film Festival...but not for my film, some other film. Oops. This one I actually submitted to.

Gonzo, I hope you make it, I saw on the FB page, that shorts will be announced in a few weeks. Tinfoil hats and lottery tickets?

    Nashville Film Fest

So...Gonzo, after all that defending of the Nashville Film Fest, did you make it IN? http://www.nashvillefilmfestival.org/press/nashville-film-festival-presented-nissan-announces-2012-confirmed-films-competition-world-cine

    Nashville Film Fest

So you guys are saying this is perfectly acceptable? That even the fest itself or the panel of viewers doesn't need to know who actually watched the film and rejected it? So when you get your rejection letter from other places, you have 100 percent faith that it was actually watched and judged...

    Nashville Film Fest

It may be an answer, but I wouldn't consider it a satisfactory one. As filmmakers, we are led to believe that film fests have a system or checklist of who watched what and who rejected what before it moves on the next round or doesn't and then they send a message. We know it's an automated...

    Nashville Film Fest

Gonzo, I hope you do get in! Check it out, they seem to have noticed my posts around the web. I received this email: Hi Brandon, We caught wind of you being upset about receiving our rejection email and I wanted to write to you to apologize. Your entry, having not been received, was...

    Nashville Film Fest

Hmmm....just wanted to update that after posting my initial post, my status in withoutabox suddenly changed to the nashville film fest receiving my film TODAY but I never sent it in and I never paid a fee... screen capture here...

    Nashville Film Fest

Gonzo: I agree that's how they say it works, and since you know people from there you have confirmation. Except in my case, it/the screener wasn't given to anyone, because it WASN'T THERE! Somebody should have said, "Uh, I don't think we actually ever watched this film..."

    Nashville Film Fest

This is the name that was on the email: Wm. Brian Owens Artistic Director Nashville Film Festival Gonzo, perhaps what you say is true, but it'd be nice to know someone actually watched the film if it were there.

    Nashville Film Fest

Just a little info: I accidentally submitted a film to the Nashville Film Fest on WithoutaBox, but never paid the fee or sent the film in...but I just received this: Dear Brandon, Unfortunately, your film *&*&****, has not been selected for the 2012 Nashville Film Festival. We received more...

    SXSW

Hey, that's a nice list! I agree with the fact there are celebs that will work with first time directors. I don't think I ever made a contrary statement. I was saying, If you have a celeb, no matter if you're a first time director or not, you have a better shot. Period. I'm definitely not...

    SXSW

Just went through the list of films accepted and out of all of them not counting the international films, I counted very few that didn't have some celeb involvement. Of the non-celeb films accepted, their creators were people who previously got into Slamdance,Sundance, etc., can't say I blame...

Rats! Layton, that sucks, sorry. Maurice, no idea on Atlanta, I didn't submit, sounds like someone there is slacking in the notification dept.

    SXSW

Good luck to you Layton if indeed you are waiting. One of the actresses in my film is a PR agent for several films supposedly going to SXSW and that acceptances have been sent out. If you didn't get one, they don't have your film?

    SXSW

I have several I've submitted to, Dallas included. Any with a new directors competition because this is my first feature film and some other niche fests. Looking for the next few right now as a matter of fact.

    SXSW

No celebs, maybe that's it. Yes, I shot it on the 7D. Everyone wants RED now. At Austin Film Festival, talking up my film, every one asked me, Oh, did you shoot on RED? Next one is on RED.

    SXSW

Oh man, I don't know what to say. There's no reason your film shouldn't have been in. That's ridiculous. I didn't see any recognizable faces in there, did you have any?
