Thanks! :D Always fun when somebody picks up on the reference. There's also a reason for the pun, but it's a long story and probably boring to everybody but me...

watch Trailer for my Fantasy Film

We're not completed yet, actually. Filming's done apart from some minor pickups, and we're trying to settle into post, but we're the same way you are, we keep wondering why we chose an effects-heavy fantasy picture as our first film when we could have made a gangster movie or a detective story...

Thank you one and all! Cryogenic -- the Wonderful Wizard of Oz book is so old that the copyright has passed into public domain. As long as you don't rip off anybody else's adaptation ( especially MGM's because WB owns that and they love threatening people with legal action) then you're...

Matt, Just wanted to thank you for your well-considered response. I appreciate the breakdown on what you felt worked and didn't work, and why. I have to say, my effects guys are familiar with the site and the tutorials you're referring to. The effects here are in the condition they are...

    L. Frank Baum's the Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Hey everyone -- maybe you've seen our proof-of-concept video over in the screening room, but we've just launched a Kickstarter campaign. Now I know, I've only recently started posting here regularly, but we're looking to raise funds to get the rest of this bad boy lensed, so if you can spare...

watch L. Frank Baum's the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, proof-of-concept

Disney did "Return to Oz" in a hurry before their rights went public, but they never owned the rights to Wonderful Wizard...those belonged to MGM, but those rights have since passed; Warner's owns the MGM film, but the rights are now public as there have been adaptations by other studios, as far...

watch L. Frank Baum's the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, proof-of-concept

The copyright has long-since passed into public domain...the only thing you can't do is be like the MGM film...can't use their designs, their songs, or their script. And such was never our intent. My script is registered with the WGA and we have the approval of LFB's great-grandson, Robert Baum.

A perfect example...and in this case both scenes from this short are scenes from the film, so they represent not only the concept, but actual progress on the film as well.

watch L. Frank Baum's the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, proof-of-concept

A script we have...I wrote that a long time ago. My concern was that even if I could somehow sell it, I'd have no control and it would be butchered into something almost entirely unlike the book. When I met Clayton, my co-producer and the director of this strange cruise, it was clear that he...

Oh man...Shell Scott movies, how amazing would that be...dunno who in the hell would play Shell, though. How amazing that you got to know RSP and have a friendship with him...was he as funny and personable as his writing would seem to suggest? It sounds like maybe yes? Edit: Thank you for the...

We've got a couple of angles there, but nothing is guaranteed...we're about to run a Kickstarter campaign. We also have a lady who has experience at fundraising who has offered to help us out, but she's been waiting for our PoC...now that it's done we're still trying to set up the meeting...

Awesome, dude, I'd love to hear them sometime. I've got all his books (save one, I think) and have read them all. He's one of my favorite authors, he's so compulsively readable and genuinely funny...guys like Robert B. Parker owe Prather more than most people realize...Prather is somehow not...
