The current script I'm working on spans the entire life of the protagonist.
Is it essential that the theme of the story be present in every scene?
Is it wasted story telling if you are showing how the person got from one point to the next if doesnt incorporate the theme?
Thanks for any help!
This is an age old question.
Not to offend anyone (but I know this probably will, sorry) but personally I think alot of people who go to filmschool want to be involved in making movies but lack creativity or artistic vision. They need to be coached along the way. I'm sure someone is now gonna...
I hear many people on here talk about using cheap lights you can buy at Home Depot or a hardware store. Can anyone tell me what lights in general they are refering to? Thanks guys
If I'm just making a very short short film to share with my friends on Facebook is it bad if I use music I do not own the rights to?
I know its still technically illegal but could I ever get in any real trouble? Thanks!
I'm looking at ND filters for the nifty fifty I'm picking up.
I'm not worried about brand, I'm getting B+W and they are good.
But what is a common filter to get for as far as how much light it blocks. I see all kinds on amazon from really dark to really light. Do I need more than one?
I'm shooting a sunrise with the Tokina 11-16mm lens on a T3i.
I am keeping the aperature at 50 and ISO at 200. So in order to not blow it out I have the f/stop cranked up to 18-20. Is this hurting the image?
Do I need a filter so I can shoot on a lower f/stop?
Thanks guys!!
I've got a nice B&W UV filter on my Tokina 11-16mm but now I am reading that perhaps a filter like this can effect the image quality. Wondering if I should take it off and see what a difference it makes?
I've also read the debate over simple protective filter vs. not is quite ongoing?
Well, after some thinking I have finally made my decision.
I am going with that Tokina 11-16mm. And then I am also going to buy a medium to close zoom lens. Just don't know which yet. Need to do more research. Any suggestions?
What do you think of this for an ultra-wide?

One of the main shots in my short is a sunrise. What would you use?
I mean if I am gonna get use out of the 24mm for other shots than I will def get it and skip the kit lens. But the kit lens sounds like it might be more practical but less quality at this point?
Ernest, thanks for the DDL shoutout.
The T3i I see comes with a 18-55mm lens. Will that lens get a wider shot on 18mm than the 24mm prime we discussed before?
If not I am just gonna buy the camera body only and save some more money.
