    Using Footage as Legal Evidence

The general rule to get video into evidence is for the person who shot it to give verbal evidence to verify where and when it was taken and to explain if there was any editing or lack thereof. Essentially, if you took the footage, it is submitted as part of your evidence. This is how police...

    PROMETHEUS Ridley Scott prequel

Thanks for that. I did see it twice in the cinema (2D and 3D). Saw the blu-ray at the rental store today. May just rent it a bit later when my memory of the detail fades.

    going professional with a gopro

If you are just shooting action footage with the GoPro and the rest with something more traditional (there's a can of worms for ya), I think the audience will be reasonably forgiving about the quality. If you look back at something like Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman's "Long way round" you...

    PROMETHEUS Ridley Scott prequel

I think running with the tag line "questions will be answered" is just setting us up for more disappointment. There are soooooooo many questions that it doesn't seem feasible. I am hoping someone who has seen the blu ray chimes in and suggests whether is worthwhile or not and saving the rest of...

    Camcorder as good as t2i

Depending on the specifics of your chase scene, you could try a GoPro. BTW they also suffer from rolling shutter if you have too much vibration.

tv Next stage of Reality TV

Reality Tv is responsible for many dead brain cells at the moment. For me, it is a concept that is largely past its prime. Especially here in Aus. I have never watched the Kardashians but they have a lot to answer for.

    I broke my lenses

Did you keep the camera running. You might have a realistic chase scene.

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Recently watched CLOVERFIELD. I would give it 4/10. Based on some unexplained beast crushing Manhattan and apparently filmed on a handcam. It took a while to get going so I skipped through the initial dialogue scenes until the action started. The shaky cam really put me off. I know its meant to...

    PROMETHEUS Ridley Scott prequel

And here's another one. Would you take a job on a spaceship knowing you would spend two years asleep and only find out what the job was once you got there? Employment must be kinda hard to come by in the latter part of the century.

    PROMETHEUS Ridley Scott prequel

I have to say that I enjoyed it as well. I saw it in 2D and found the opening scenes majestic. I will get around to seeing it in 3D as well. I have most of the same questions that have been posted here but have another to add. Why was Guy Pearce cast as Weyland? wouldn't you just cast an older...

    watch Initial attempt

I purchased it with stills in mind but also the image stabilisation for video dolly shots. Physically it a pretty big lens but has quite a good useful range. If I want telephoto I have access to an L series zoom I can hire. Actually there are no Kangaroos in Tasmania but we have Wallabies...

Thanks for your reply. What sort of mics did you use?

Microphone and set up for recording onboard a motorcycle

I am considering what type of microphone to use for this task. I will be recording using a Tascam Dr 100 Mkii. I intend to put it in a tank bag and run a cable to a microphone mounted near the exhausts. The sound will be recorded while the bike is moving. I originally thought of mounting the...

Do we need permission to shoot in public places??

I think this is a common sense issue and depends on what you are doing. If you are just filming scenery using a single camera on a tripod and no other crew, you are creating no more of a hazard than the tourists running around taking photos. if you have actors, lights, sound gear, dollies and...

    watch Initial attempt

Hi All, I have recently posted my first proper attempt at edited footage to Vimeo here: https://vimeo.com/41855002 I only purchased a Canon 60D a few weeks ago. Yesterday I went out to shoot some footage and put it together to get some experience. I learnt a lot just doing that. Some of the...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Today I saw "A Dangerous Method". Focusses on the life of Carl Jung, and his interactions with Freud and one of his patients played by Keira Knightly. I have subtitled it "The Jung and the restless". I would give it 6.5 out of 10. Knightly gives a very compelling rendition of a mad woman...

    ||= Shot by a Canon! T2i T3i etc...

Wow. A lot of haters and picky people on the petapixel site. (try saying that three times fast). Think I'll avoid that one. Why can't people on the internet be positive rather than point out faults or at least be constructive?

    PROMETHEUS Ridley Scott prequel

I saw the trailer for Prometheus in the cinema on the weekend ,before I watched the Avengers. The trailer was in 3D. Its going to be a lot to take in. I tend to notice more detail in 2D for some reason. I think I will end up going to the 2D screening as well when its starts showing.

Need Dead Cat... not the windscreen, but an actual cat that is dead

Not sure what your neighbourhood is like but maybe you could throw a spade in the boot and go for a drive. Wouldn't have to go far from where I live.
