    Chelmsford Derelict

Hey Guys, I'm commencing a film, it's a post-apocalyptic film set after a nuclear war, I need places that are derelict, warehouses, farms, anything run down and abandoned still standing, In Chelmsford and Essex (England) would be good, there was this one place, in the middle of nowhere...

Who is your favorite film composer?

Michael Giacchino, but not for his films, his Medal of Honour scores are phenominal! Especially MoH:Frontline, that gets me nostalgic and teary eyed all the time

    How do YOU direct actors?

The Majority of the people I use in my films are friends of course but they have a strong passion for acting so we can easily just break off from real life and act out this scene as we know what our hobbies are and how to do them....It's rare I'll use a friend whom has no interest in film-making...

Has CGI become a "bad word"?

I think it all comes down to what sort of film it is, If it's a Sci Fi film or Fantasy I find it acceptable. But set in the real world I think it looks naff and stupid...And Lazy too, several years ago people would love CGI but I feel we're now so used to it we prefer to see stunts and action...

tv If you could remake a movie/tv show.

I would remake Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, that's really where George Lucas screwed up. I'd make Anakin older, much older, maybe what his age was in Episode 3, stop him being that "Sweet and Innocent" child, I'd make him gruffer and rebelious, have a scene with him angry and...

    fight scenes

What about a couple of frames cut? For example a Punch to the face, as the fist approaches, to make it seem like the fist travels fast and the impact is hard, remove a frame or two in between the actual impact and just before and it looks pretty harsh. Similar to simulating a gun fire, remove...

    Software Respect

Fair enough, A bit of a rushed question I'll admit, of course it does come down to the talent of the editor aswell, after reading this and some thought I suppose it's not just a sole thing that makes a film good but the combination of the editor, editorial suite and passion. At least I know...

My career choice is of course media, I'd love to work in the media world, could any industry professionals here tell me if I'm on the right path here? I'm 17 from England, in my first year (Of 2) of college studying for an Extended National Diploma in Media Studies, I know this alone will not...

    Your facepalm moments during filmmaking

No he didn't use that shot otherwise he'd to re-write the whole scene (As I then have to get in the car afterwards), I think he recorded it though, I'll ask him when we go back to college if I could take the tape and put the blooper on youtube or something. It didn't hurt much to be honest, a...

    Your facepalm moments during filmmaking

My friend wanted to do a fight scene for a college project recently, I volunteered to act in it. During the fight I was fueled with adrenaline, when the guy was meant to throw me I properly launched myself, missed the door, I flew across the bonnet, clearing the car, Oh how we laughed :)

    fight scenes

When I do a fight scene, I cut quickly, I like a fast cutting fast paced fight scene, chances are if the cutting is quick, the viewer won't really have time to process or notice that the punch didn't impact, as long as it's close and the sound effect is believable.... But that's my method

    Video Games anyone?

Gaming is what got me into film-making, as games have become more and more cinematic over time I started playing them, then downloading their soundtracks and envisioning my own scenes in my head to that music. Then of course one day decided to shoot my idea, that was about 4 years ago and...
