Sigma 10-20mm. Will it cut with a Canon 50mm? and what else should I have in the bag.

Hi, I'm working on a documentary project at the moment and have a sigma 10-20 at my disposal. Shooting on a Canon 550D/T2i. Was just considering my lens options. Whether I should rent (extremely expensive) or buy a decent zoom and let's say the Canon 50mm 1.4. I was just wondering whether the...

    Source professional treatments and synopses?

Thanks the synopsis for LA confidential is pretty good though I think these have been written by contributors to Imdb. Though they give a good framework for plot progression and development. I also found this on my travels: http://www.simplyscripts.com/treatments.html

Anti-glare spray alternatives for highly reflective surfaces

Thanks, some good advice there. There are a number of large florescent lights hanging from girders from the ceiling. They are quite high. There isn't really glare from the walls when this existing lighting is on. I would have liked to have simply mixed the florescent with my own lights. Ie A...

Anti-glare spray alternatives for highly reflective surfaces

Hi, I have to shoot a promo video for a client in a martial arts dojo. Of the four walls I have to work with 2 are white perspex/reflective plastic that give a nasty glare when I try to bounce my light off them. The other main wall is a long mirror and the rear wall has a window to an office...

Continuous shot 10 min short - Best camera and grip set up?

2.8 ft sounds about right. Ken Rockwell's page has a closest focus range of 1ft. Hard to say under what circumstances that's in. http://www.kenrockwell.com/tokina/11-16mm.htm

Continuous shot 10 min short - Best camera and grip set up?

The film will be more along the lines of 10 Minutes by Ahmed Imamovic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppAn0LNU_V8 Look closely at the interior, it's very dark. I think a big concern we have in the west is that we want to see everything. Leaving something dark and gloomy for a time can add...

Continuous shot 10 min short - Best camera and grip set up?

Thanks for the advice.. what about if I kept the interior shorts purposefully darker? And used pools of concentrated light to highlight certain blocked positions ie as the talent sits at a table. Also sparsely used bg light just to bump up the overall levels indoors? Maybe LED's?

Continuous shot 10 min short - Best camera and grip set up?

Hi, I'm making a single shot/long take film. Approx 9-10 minutes of continuous action. I will follow the talent from interior to exterior and some light running too will be required. I have access to a glidecam but can't seem to get any joy with the device at all. Was thinking of having a...

Rode NTG-2 - Low levels into PC

Hi, I recently bought a rode ntg-2 shotgun mic and was trying to hook it up to my pc. I used an xlr cable with a stereo 6.5mm (1/4'') jack, then a 3.5mm (1/8'') stereo adapter to plug into the pc. I also inserted a battery into the mic itself. The levels are ridiculously low when trying to...

    Horrorshow tolchocks and Steve McQueen

No, you're right :) there's no way anyone could win such an argument as the point of reference is unquantifiable and completely subjective although you could make a good case of it by weighing the elements of each piece and appealing to people's mores and tastes.. anyhoo... everyone's got on...

    Horrorshow tolchocks and Steve McQueen

The introduction in the Penguin Modern Classic edition has one such example "James B. Hesemath, put this thought with embarrassing bluntness in 1976, suggesting to Burgess that he'd been a 'lesser English novelist', whose novel had been 'more or less forgotten', until Kubrick's film." There was...

    Horrorshow tolchocks and Steve McQueen

I just picked up the novel a clockwork orange by anthony burgess and anyone who says that kubrick did a better job in making the film that he did in writing the book needs some Pavlovian brain conditioning. It's awesome. To come up with the language (derived from Ruskie) was a sheer stroke of...
