    Tips on flow

Hey everyone. I'm very new to all this, and although I ultimately want to go into directing, I feel I want/need to start filming my own work as practice and to get experience using a camera before I go trying to direct someone elses work. Right now, since I have no actors, and I have no...

    School

Yeah, I'll have to see if they offer anything like this a little closer to home. I guess for a week long one I could make a little vacation out of it, but I don't think the fiance would like a 4 week long vacation, lol. Well, not with me going alone that is, lol.

EVP(or other weird stuff)on your footage?

Well, I know in the shows I watch, Ghosthunters, they film for roughly 8 hours a night. They arrive around 8 or 9 pm and leave around 3ish. It doesn't happen nearly as much as it shows on TV, but, it's like fishing, do you want to see an actual hour on the water where they don't catch...

Looking for a Good "Starter" Camera

OK, back to reality... I have one of these on hold today. No money down or anything, it was just their last one and I wanted them to hold it so I could run home and research. Any thoughts on this? I've never owned a camcorder, I have never made a film, so I'm pretty much brand new at...

Looking for a Good "Starter" Camera

Well now it makes some more sense..... I said "was it built to look expensive" because Cnet has that camcorder listed as being 165 bucks. They messed that up obviously. http://shopper.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/jvc-gy-dv500u-camcorder/4014-6500_9-30596868.html?tag=mncol;lst Thats why I...

Looking for a Good "Starter" Camera

What about the JVC GY DV500U? I was searching Cnet, and it's the cheapest one, but, was it just built to look more expensive, or is it a decent camcorder? I'm so new at this, I'm not sure if theres some obvious thing I'm just missing. Heres a feature page...

    School

I was thinking of taking workshops too, but I'm not sure if thats really gonna help at all. I know the NYFA has 1 week, 2 week, all the way up to 8 week workshops. It's not as expensive as full tuition, but I doubt I'd gain as much either. It might be a good way to get my feet wet and maybe...

    School

Yeah, I am really thinking of going to school. I guess I don't need the NYFA, or UCLA, or something. It'd be nice, but I doubt I'd even get in anyways. Was kind of a slacker in HS, lol. I guess as long as I find a good school, I'd certainly benefit from it.

EVP(or other weird stuff)on your footage?

I have a bunch of times, but I am a paranormal investigator, so I WANT that stuff to happen and record video and audio where I expect this to happen. :)

    School

Hey everyone. How important, in your opinion, is going to school? I have always had an interest in "behind the scenes" stuff, special effects, directing, etc, and I am now going for that long time dream, but I'm curious how important film school is, or if this industry is more, "Your talent...

    Editing software, etc.

Forgive me for my complete novice question, but, I am just getting into filmmaking, and I have the entire CS3 suite, but I heard using a Mac was best for editing, effects, etc. Is that true, or should I take advantage of the Adobe CS3 suite and maybe invest in Vegas also?
