I've had batteries leak inside equip, it's bad.
Some mics have tricky on/off switches too ... so folks make sure it's OFF by removing the battery.
I've heard (but cannot confirm) that ANY connection to the battery slowly drains it ... even if the equip is off ... so removing the battery is...
Well, all the behind-the-scenes are fun to look at too but ... This one utterly rocks! I'm luvin' the photo realistic / "comic book illustration" vibe to it!
Wish the video links worked! Hope you can get something up eventually -- I know many here would luv seeing them!
Thanks for all your replies, they helped out!
Rockerrockstar -- I'll definitely stay in touch and tell ya about anything we'll be shooting down around Indy (I'm just getting another proj rolling, and might end up shooting down there rather than up here)
Hey, I checked out some of your music you...
Is this a decent audio package? Opinions and guidence invited!
Hey, Rockerrockstar! Thanks for the feedback! I'm assuming with you that the shorter the signal travels thru cable, the better ... but I don't really know about how much 20 ft extra of XLR cable matters, interference/buzz/hum-wise...
Thanks for the advice about Weebly, I'm seeing all that it does ... It's pretty cool.
What I'd need, I think, is some sort of FREE (or rilly rilly inexpensive) "forms" program where potential actors or crew can go to my "film community" website ... and enter themselves into a shared database...
I've read and heard that it's an axiom (assuming that axiom is the correct word) in low budget filmmaking that audiences can sit through "poor" visuals and easily accept the lousy visuals as ... part of the aesthetic whole.
BAD SOUND ... especially lousy sound that makes dialogue a burden to...
I'm relatively new to film production, and I'm in small-town INDIANA ... which basically means FINDING and CASTING decent Actors & Actresses is rather difficult (unlike in huge cities where there may be large talent pools, etc) ...
My question is: Does anyone know websites where someone can...
Here's a very basic question where Experience enlightens the newbie!
I'm on the verge of buying
a Rode NTG2 mic (B&H kit) to use as a boom mic for dialogue.
I'm running it into a Canon Vixia HV40
through a Juicedlink CX211 XLR adapter.
Any issues or problems foreseen by anyone there...
So that's two good reviews for OneModelPlace from Tommy and myself!
My warning is this: unless you ALREADY KNOW a woman who happens to be a stripper, then I'd assume working with a stranger/stripper is a BIG RISK:
1. They're perhaps even flakier and less dependable PERSONALLY than "actress"...
You live in Hong Kong, so maybe you have these on late night tv? But it's always some sexy hot girl sitting there trying to get you to "call me" and "all my hot friends" at some dating hotline chatforum (?) for $2.99/min or something? I think it's several people on the same call?
Or a live...
Others above can help you better with the nuts & bolts of finding the auditions and acting gigs in LA!
My two cents would be to add that just because they send you to a stereotypical role doesn't mean you have to play it as a stereotypical character!
Now obviously, if all you are is Gangsta...
Take this with a grain of salt, and await feedback from someone who USES an XL2 ... but it was my "understanding" that one advantage to the Canon is that it uses Canon STILL CAMERA lens too.
Again, I'm sure someone with actual experience will help you soon ... but i had heard and thought the...
Do as I say and not as I do :), but here is wisdom I myself am fighting to learn how to fully put into action:
If you wait to be "in the mood to write" (quoting my OWN procrastination there, and not you) you have automatically reduced your writing time to anywhere from one-half to one-fifth the...
Well, I thought by that point everyone would've been recognizing it was mostly (if not all) whimsy, borogove! ;)
That, and I'd moved on from the specific to the general: create great characters, then worry about a name, etc.
Sorry for the romp.
Maybe it's the difference between writing a short story and a novel. A short film/story may focus on a single story point or idea, told via relatively straight forward plot points. Don't "try to do too much" ... give your character(s) one problem or conflict to resolve, and then end it. Tell...
Okay, at the risk of pointless belligerence, I gotta ask: you need names? your biggest problem with creating great characters is ... their NAMES ?!
How does a name make sense? Do you mean the big man on a Roman campus needs to be named Maximus Homo Campusii ?
"Tony Romo"
Seriously...
It's happy news things worked out for you in the end.
You may indeed have just hit on some unlucky choices to act in your movie ... in every group some will disappoint you, others will go above and beyond.
A recent personal anecdote: lined two models up for photo shoots, both working TFCD...
