You should get a DAT, a mixer, cords, and a boompole, mic and a shockmount. A clapper board will help also with a verbal slate so you can sync in post.

Yes if it is just the XL1 and not the XL1(s), then I take the pany. I wouldn't bother with the GL2, you could get a small hd camcorder for that price.
