So it seems to be the consensus that it's worth investing on a more expensive tripod.

Well, it's settled. I shall invest in a good tripod.

Monopod vs Tripod

Pros and cons of each. Ideally I want something cheap yet effective, however I wouldn't mind paying more if monopods blow tripods away.

If the movie is about your protagonist then it makes sense. Theo was in every scene in Children of Men. Plainview was in all but one scene in There Will Be Blood
