Good wide-angle zoom lens for Canon 5D Mark III?

Ha, I wish you guys had responded a week ago. I went ahead and bought the Tokina lens. I am actually very satisfied... It performs very well and I'm looking forward to shooting something serious with it. The weight does make the camera somewhat awkward, though. That lens is a chunk. Though...

Good wide-angle zoom lens for Canon 5D Mark III?

^Yeah, I was wondering about that too. Do I even need a wider lens than what I have? Perhaps the money would be better spent on a 35mm prime or something like that.

Good wide-angle zoom lens for Canon 5D Mark III?

Oh, boy! And it's only 4.5 times my budget! I'll pick it up tomorrow XD

Good wide-angle zoom lens for Canon 5D Mark III?

Ah, thanks for those tidbits. I didn't even think to look for a comparison. The filter thing is a pretty big drawback I must say... but unless someone else comes along with a better recommendation it looks like that's the one. After all, the image quality looks to be generally fine and sometimes...

Good wide-angle zoom lens for Canon 5D Mark III?

Yeah, I'd LOVE to have that 16-35, but it truly is more than I'm willing to put up right now. I'm looking more for something cheap that I can use until I have the funds to upgrade, at which point I'd probably sell the old one. I'd prefer a faster aperture than the 17-40. If I went for that one...

Good wide-angle zoom lens for Canon 5D Mark III?

So I just recently bought a Canon 5D Mark III, and I need help picking out a good wide-angle lens. It came with the 24-105mm f/4l, and I'm planning on getting a 50mm prime with f/1.4 or f/1.8. What would be a good wider lens that could cover what the big zoom lens can't? I don't generally the...

I have no idea how to lenses

Plural eyes, huh? I can't imagine how one would begin programming that, but if it exists then I guess I'm good to go! Thanks everyone! E: Just so I have something to go off of, what would be an example of a "high end" audio recorder and shotgun mic setup?

I have no idea how to lenses

Oh, yeah I know I'm going to need some external recorder to plug the mics in now. Previously I'd shot with a dedicated video camer that had XLR ports. Thanks for pointing out some specific recorders though! But I figure now is as good a time as any to ask this: I'm thinking of getting the GH4...

I have no idea how to lenses

I have the Sennheiser ME66 and ME67 along with the power unit. I have a boom pole and some XLR cables. Is there more that I need?

I have no idea how to lenses

Wow, guys. Thanks for the novels. That was hugely informative. @Alcove Audio: I do have some nice shotgun mics that I think will do nicely. I only have work lights and a homemade reflector for lighting so far but I'm thinking about getting at least one nice light with barn doors to serve as a...

I have no idea how to lenses

I'm about to dive into serious filmmaking, and I'm about to make a large camera purchase. My problem is that I know about the camera bodies but NOTHING about lenses, which will affect my camera purchase substantially. So, please, any recommendations would be very welcome. I also have some very...

Can't decide what camera to buy... Panasonic AF101?

Oh, wow. Based on that footage maybe not, then. GH4 might be the way to go. Thanks for all the help guys, you've been great! Hypothetically, though, I might be able to scrape together about 2k more for the budget, so with a 6,000 dollar budget should I still go for a DSLR? Or something else?

Can't decide what camera to buy... Panasonic AF101?

Well I realize that I'm going to need some supporting gear. I already have some tripods, a dolly, a stabilizer, etc, but it was my understanding that DSLR's need more of that than other cameras.

Can't decide what camera to buy... Panasonic AF101?

Alright, thanks for the help guys... If I go with the GH4 I'd have to buy accessories too, though, right? Like wouldn't I need all sorts of brackets for holding and filming and making smooth shots etcetera?
