I don't know what they used particularly, but I could see the shot being recreated with a 80mm f1.4 lens. The background is blurred quite a bit, with the foreground rather sharp, especially the facial features. In that shot, a large aperture is defintley needed.

Thank you! And the film will be made for criticistical purposes, thus it does fit under the definition of the law, the film will also be a learning experience for the cast (which yes- is not exactly the teaching they law entails) but the first reason is why the film will fit the law.
