I have a 5D mkiii & a 24-105mm + a 50mm (both L series glass) that I bought after some furious wage saving!

I find using the 24-105 mm L series really versatile for doc type stuff. Although it is slow (f4) it has image stabilisation and weather sealing so you can pretty much use it anywhere that has reasonable lighting and you dont have to waste time changing glass. For the 'day in the life of' part...

It would most likely be around £400, unfortunately though we'd only be able to charge them when we get through to a clearing. Most of the time there'll be a jungle canopy above our heads....
