    Should i buy Jvc gy-hm100u??

i think the gyhm100u is pretty solid camera. smaller censor, so dont use in low light. but packs quite a bit of pro features in such a small camera. 2 yo seems long, but when compared to even alot of todays camera's in the same class, it still holds its own. plus the progressive scan is a plus...

    DV tape cameras

I love tapes, and post-productions workflows based off tape. They are becoming obsolete, but hey, each to their own. I love em, and personally not looking forward to the day tapes are dated..which is soon. Flash memory is very convenient though, nothing bad to say about it either.

    Is Avid good?

AVID is diffidently really good. AVID was for awhile the only industry standard digital NLE platform that was really solid. But FCP is super solid as well, so its all about preference.

    Color Correction Properly?

Heres a color correction tip everytime you move the camera, change lighting, redo white balance, etc, fill the frame with a color card and record a few seconds. the color card should include white, black, and all colors of the color wheel(or at least the primaries, and secondaries). shoot your...

Final Cut - Change Speed or Conversion for slomo?

FCP is non destructive. It never changes the original footage. It only creates information with what to do with the footage. When you convert footage in FCP, the original footage stays wherever it is on your drive, untouched, and the conversions will automatically create a new version of the...

Apple Color + Final Cut Pro

FCP is using different color spec than color (obviously) but both are non destructive. They create metadate for the original footage. So while it may look worse in FCP, the footage still has the color's metadata, so, assuming your setting are all correct, when you export, the final product...

    Stupid logging of footage.

I could see a documentary being more difficult to paper log. I really like your approach of creating a script with sound bytes, very nice! Well, like i said before. Logging is tedious, but I'm sure you know it'll greatly pay off. Cant wait to hear the outcome of your project.

    Stupid logging of footage.

Logging is tedious, but iv learned to love it. it really pays off in the end and makes actual the editing process way smoother. Nothing wrong with familiarizing yourself with the footage you worked hard on. What software are you using? Does it have folder options and subfolder options? I find...

what can you do with a film degree?

Dont go to film school for a job. I go because i love getting taught by working professionals. Theres no reason you cant make shorts while in school for practice, and for assignments. Coming out of film school, you'll have an impressive demo-reel critiqued by fellow students (future co-workers)...
