Think of the script as being your chronological map of what will happen on screen. So whenever the v.o. is going to happen during your film it should happen in your script.

I thinkit's only free for awhile then it's going to be a pay per month service. I downloaded it to look at it and see the interface, it looks good, very seamless. I'm not sure what they are going to charge for it, if it stayed free I'd use it. As it is I won a copy of movie magic screenwriter...

write an outline, a treatment, and for really long epics with a lot of plot twists I try to write back stories for all of my characters. Sort of a character bio I guess. Sometimes the stuff in the bio doesn't make it into the script but it helps me remember the characters motivation.

I meant descriptively, as a reader I like to paint that picture of who its talking, what are they like? tall, short, portly. The dialogue was mostly technical things like (beats) and such to create pauses where someone might be thinking etc., the actual dialogue read very smoothly.

Besides the grammar and the montage that is blank it's OK, but I think you need to refine it a little bit. I'd like to know more about these characters, does Vlad talk with a russian accent? does he not know american customs? Is that why he said "High Five!" instead of just giving a high five...

It's definitely a good start, Personally i'd like to know a bit more about the characters and locations. I'm not sure where you're going with the script, but i like it so far. I don't think I would describe it as cinematic, because I think you haven't really described anything to make me think...

I will echo just about everything that has been said and add that you can not fail the SAT's. you can do poorly on them and you can do well on them but you can not fail them. the audience you are going for will pick you apart for that. just sayin

Yeah that would be a really funny beginning that should take the audience by surprise and would set a really nice tone for the rest of the script. I don't know about him arriving as the police get there but maybe that could work also.

you've gotten a lot of good advice here, For simple stories I can usually write without an outline. But once I get to more than 5 or so semi-major characters I need to put some sort of outline together or I get lost as well.

I've thought about it, but I think this has a long way to go before it's ready for that, this is just the first draft. perhaps after I've let it breathe and rewritten it I will submit it somehwhere.

yeah that was fiction, about 10% of what is written right now is fiction. I tried for this first draft to be as accurate to memory as I could without making it completely dull. As I refine it, it will more than likely lose some of its link to reality, but i guess that's ok. People go to see...

Anyone ever get a little depressed after finishing a script? Not the "I'm gonna jump off of a building" depressed, but more like "holy shit, I'm never gonna have another idea" depressed.

As someone who recently quit smoking I'm not sure it makes anyone sexy, but it sure as hell can make them look cool as hell. I hate that smoking made me stink and potentially die, so I quit, but smoking is just cool. plain and simple
