Lens adapter on Standard Def Camera

You are right that HD looks more attractive in general. A camera with a true highres sensor will record a much crisper image than an upsampled SD image, no doubt. But especially the HVX200 has no highres sensor so in this particular case the topic starter won't gain much in sharpness by using...

    Lighting by Example!

Sorry, forgot to post the answers I presented those five examples: (please click the preview images for the 2k samples) 1) Love scene in bed We used a simple setup with a soft 1,2 kW HMI, bounced into two styros and a big china ball with a 150 W daylight ESL (energy-saving-lamp). A flag was...

Lens adapter on Standard Def Camera

Sorry, but I don't find those arguments valuable. Especially as the topic starter has the choice between XL2 and HVX200. The HVX200 uses 3 1/3" CCDs with 960x540 progressive Pixels and uprez that by using pixelshifting to HD. The XL2 uses 3 1/3" 960x480 (NTSC) progressive Pixels and downrez...

    Ciné lightmeter recommendations?

Hi Ed, I am using the Sekonic C-340 which is the analog variant. Advantage: much cheaper than the electronic ones, doesn't need batteries Disadvantage: harder to read, lacks some of the advanced features, has a strong magnetic, so it might be dangerous for credit cards, tapes, harddrives If you...

    Selecting microphone(s) for film

I won't see why you wouldn't be happy with the Rode NTG-3. IMHO, it sounds nearly identical to the Sennheiser MKH-416. I had the Sennheiser K6/ME66 and it is not anywhere close to the MKH-416 or NTG-3. The ME66 sounds to thin for my taste, the NTG-3 is much warmer, has more presence. You might...

Alcove Audio, is there a reason not to put the NTG3 into the professional range? It is almost identical to the mkh416 imho.

Brett, I am from Austria. But I am not quite sure how I could help you? You say anything can help, but the more specific you are what you need the easier it is to help.

Obtaining an outdoor look as good as this.

I have shot several times with the EX3 and indeed you can get a nice shallow DoF with it because of the 1.9 zoom lens. But I remember one shot in a car in that video with very small DoF, so probably they have a second EX1 with a 35mm adapter.

    Filming speed, in your experience

Shooting 15 pages in one day? I wanna see and listen to that result... I don't question that you can do that - but I question the quality of the result. If you plan to do it correctly and get quality shots, then better calculate with an average of 3-4 film minutes per 8-10 h day. That means...
