    Filming speed, in your experience

Rik, thanks for all of the advice. In your experience, what has to go/what do you give up when the time is so extremely short like this? Also if anyone else has experience (I should hope so!) please chime in!!

    Filming speed, in your experience

Is this mainly because of setup time, or time to re-direct people, once shooting has begun? So what's your secret? How do you manage to be more efficient than many others? I plan to do an 8-hour day, efficiently. Thanks for your input! Anyone else want to share their experience? I'd love...

    Filming speed, in your experience

Hello All, Haven't been on this site since, I am told, "12-09-2006 at 09:52 PM" What did I miss? Here's something everyone has experience and advice with, and I'd love all of it!: I'm writing and planning the production for a full-length I hope to produce this coming summer...

What do people want to read next?

Perhaps Annie Hall? Quite a funny movie and very dialogue-based. Would also be interesting because, while almost every line is a joke, the movie has a very serious quality/structure to it, and isn't a "jokey" story as many comedies are, which I imagine could get annoying in a screenplay...

    Directors Calling Directions

Two slighly unrelated examples: -Because he never (or rarely) recorded source sound in his movies, Fellini used to play records of classical music in the background while the actors were acting - kind if the same technique, but didn't, as clive was describing, break the actors' concentration...

watch ITOOFC #4 Rules, Details, and Knick Knacks

Yes, if this is possible I would be indebted to you forever. :) Friend with a server now says he cant spare the bandwidth. If I knew how to use the "stabbing" smiley I would use it here.

watch ITOOFC #4 Rules, Details, and Knick Knacks

How many days is it until the end of the competition? 13 - spoooooky. And though it may be late in the game, and though I may still be thinking up a script, I'm officially in! May the best man win. My film won't have a score just so that someone else can win a category.

watch ITOOFC #4 Rules, Details, and Knick Knacks

Don't want to say I'm in because I said that last time and got nowhere (except for a script i'm rather proud of). But... I'm going to at least try to compete and I came up with a couple of questions while brainstorming (I know, a little late): -There's been a lot of discussion about the genre...

    RANT: HIGH CONCEPT vs. yawn...

Whoa. That to me seems like such an interesting movie. I would definitely pay ten bucks to see that. It's not really relevant per se, but you might want to check out the book Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein as a kind of discourse on the questions that your logline brings up.

    I'm in, as well.

    A f911 like video.

And as for a reason that the patriot act is wrong, how about this: People can be arrested without charges, not be allowed to consult with a lawyer, or anything else constituting due process. As the law is written now, Bush could have all registered Democrats locked up right before the election...

Actually, he does. Watch Bowling for Columbine.

my new idea for a film

Also, this movie reminds me a lot of Office Space. Really liberate the audience from their own situations, too.

my new idea for a film

I really like your idea for the movie. The idea of having the same day repeated twice really makes us connect with the character: show his boring day once, you feel bad for him. Show his boring day three times, and you're sick of his life just like he is. But be sure to make the audience care...

Need Critique of Plan for Low Budget Feature

As long as we're all tossing opinions out... My personal opinion is, if you're going to do the 1:1, look through your script and make sure it's damn good. You're not going to make a 'visual' movie with 1:1. However, you CAN make a great 'diologue' movie, and the audience will be much more...
