best line of dialogue you've ever written

Here is one from our current production: This one is a v/o: So this is where I started. That's my mom and my dad. They are procreating, and that's what I am calling it, because they are my parents. And while this is no different than any other conception; it is what happens next that gives you...

Thoughts on festivals - Any tips?

sometimes the film just doesn't take...you gotta think about market trends and what are people currently looking for...docs and mind-trips are hot right now...hitmen aren't...I am sure it's a great film, and recommend you keep going and applying everywhere...even if you get into a rinky-dink...

    Lighting alternatives

wax paper (if that's the same thing) works well, but sometimes diffuses too much for our needs; we use standard gels with them too, and there are tutorials on building your own barn doors for them; however we have not had the chance to do that. My DP built a diffuser rig that works well, but I...

    Lighting alternatives

i use 2 sets of 2x500w work lights from canadian tire...they work well...we diffuse them a bit to cut the harsh whiteness...sometimes use both of the lights on one rig for a key, and one of the lights on the other to fill or backlight...it's not the greatest ever...but hey, it gets the job done...

The leaglities of shooting in a video store

In toronto, as long as you don't impede traffic or pedestrian traffic you can film all you want as it's a public place, however shooting into someone's window of them performing sexual acts might get ya in trouble... :P

    Which camera to buy?

I hear ya, is there any quality loss when converting to 24p? (how do you actually do this in post? I've never done it...) Thinking about it and what you say, would HD be my main buying point? If I can convert to 24p after the fact and it maintains the quality...then it kinda makes sense.
