About Me
- About gorillaonabike
- Name
- Big Gorilla
- Location
- London
- Occupation
- Amateur director but I have been offered money to direct and shoot some bits and pieces.
- Biography
- My father worked for a film maker (as an accountant). They specialised in cr@p, straight to video films with big 'brand' names (e.g. Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde) with hastily written scripts, fast shooting and not really attention to quality. The objective was to shoot as cheaply as possible and make as much money as quickly as possible. It was a veritable production line of terrible films but I have to take my hat off to the CEO who made a load of money.
The CEO made a fortune doing this but I grew up thinking 'I want to do better' from a creative perspective.
Since I was a kid, I have had a burning desire to create and recently started this, beginning to shoot a series of five shorts set in London finishing in December 2013. The first of these is in the can and if you are interested in collaboration, I would be delighted to share this with you so you can see how this is. A trailer is being edited for a second short and I am in pre for a short which will be shot in Feb 2013.
In addition to this, a musician liked my short and asked me to shoot a test to see if I could put a music video together for her. She liked it so much she now wants me to shoot a series of videos and she is actually spending her own money on a studio to do this in. This attracted a little attention locally meaning a London ad agency wanted a meeting with me and things are surprisingly beginning to move a little.
In terms of me, I am 40, am lucky to have a few talented collaborators although a proper soundie would be fabulous.
Other than being incredibly organised (I am ferociously organised), I have a VG10 with steadicam, tripod, lights, sound setup (DR100, ECM 674, boom etc...).
If you want me on your crew, I'm happy to help out but would also be happy if you wanted to join mine. Any questions, please just shoot me a PM and I would be happy to talk. - Filmography
