- Prior to his decision to focus on Directing, Miklós had over eighteen years of experience as a Director of Photography shooting for film, video and television. Professionally and creatively diversified, his background covers drama, comedy, news, documentary and a variety of television programming. His extensive portfolio holds examples in categories that include: narrative films, documentaries, music videos, corporate communications, travel and fashion.
Beginning his career in Budapest, he was apprenticed to the late László Neumann, one of the great Hungarian cinematographers of the time and a contemporary of Vilmos Zsigmond (Deer Hunter, Witches of Eastwick, Heaven's Gate, The Black Dahlia) and László Kovács (Easy Rider, Shampoo, Paper Moon, Frances). More recently, he has studied with Andrew Utter, a Yale School of Drama MFA, at his “Mother of Invention” acting school in San Francisco; with Marcia Kimmell, an acting/ directing teacher in San Francisco at the Next Stage Theater, and at Judith Weston’s acting-directing workshops at her Two-Lights Studio in Los Angeles.
When he turned 20, Miklos left Hungary and moved to Sydney where a year later he opened a production company. Working as Director/ DP, he shot, edited and co-directed videos for clients that include: the Sydney Tourism Commission, BMW, John-Player Special, Club Med and Australian Penthouse.
