Cole McDonald began filmmaking on a whim. Since then, he has aggressively pursued filmmaking as a serious hobby with the intention of working it into a career. Having spent the last several years reading anything and everything he could find on the art and craft of filmmaking, he has taken the stance that knowledge gained for free needs to be given back to starting filmmakers.
Having written thousands of posts and articles on internet message boards and the Y.A.F.I.:Underground.com site, his excitement about filmmaking at any level has prompted many open dialogs about the technique and theory of filmmaking. This need to share with others led the now-defunct 1000 dollar film online magazine to invite Cole to be a regular columnist on DIY filmmaking. Cole is an active community member on the online message boards IndieTalk, Stick To What You Know and DVInfo. He is currently an administrator of STWYK and a moderator on Indietalk.
Starting with a feature film and continuing with several short films for competition, Cole has gathered a group of dedicated filmmakers under the Y.A.F.I.:Underground name to work toward becoming a full blown production entity. With learning and professionalism as the focus on the sets, the feedback of new members has been beyond positive. He continues to invite new filmmakers to come and participate in the joy and hardships of filmmaking.
