The trailer looks phenomenal. I feel like I saw it about a month ago though? Am I delusional?

Either way it looks great and the special effects really work.

Your two main actresses look like Elisabeth Moss and Emma Stone respectively, I thought you should know that... :lol:

Thanks Reg.

Hopefully this doesn't shine a negative light on the production but we did use two RED MX camera with two different lenses. A cooke 18-100/t3.1 and Zeiss Standard speeds.

There is also Gh2 footage in the trailer with some PL lenses. Can ya spot it!?

Clapper! Yeah you saw a version before. I took it down to tweak it and adjust music/audio.

It's basically like a second shorter.

The girl that looks like Emma Stone is actually the producer Teresa Decher (www.operationblank.com). Shes abou to start a series on being an actor and producer.

She also says "Thanks!". Emma Stone is one of our fav actresses.

Three things that you probably never want to go without: Good audio guy with decent gear, Make-up for your talent (so that they feel comfortable in front of the camera), and a producer who can handle small tasks like making sure food's around, etc. Even though it's still hard with just those bare essentials, it's better than not having them at all.

I was interested in the ownership structure. Thanks for the info. So basically you and your producer own the film and you guys paid everybody. That's the info I was looking for. So what was the total budget??

And thanks for the other advice too. I was thinking that the next film I make, I'll pay the audio guy. I wasn't thinking about makeup and snacks so much, but I'll keep it in mind :)

We definitely paid everyone on set, all actors, etc. As far as the budget goes, it's not much more than what the kickstarter reflects to be honest! Which they say is a bad thing to expose, but, oh well. =]

Try not to skimp on snacks. You'll keep people happy with water, juice, and some caffeine and as far as things to eat, just make sure they aren't all power bars. Fruit and good cookies go a long way, along with vegetable and meat platters.

If you're asking people to work hard, you should definitely try to keep them as comfortable as possible.

Keep me updated on what you're getting into!

Looks good. Superhero material is fertile and always goes over well.

One thing, I don't quite get the premise. Presumably a group of kids has been endowed with powers as a result of ingesting some drug? I was left more confused by that inciting even than intrigued. Great VFX.
 
Not sure who's on the FB page, but if you aren't, here's an update:

VFX have hit the ninety-eight percent mark, which means it's just a matter of tweaking/adjusting after plugging everything into the current cut.

During that time, it's music (score)--which I had never planned on but it's turning out pretty neat, titles, color sessions, and the 5.1 mix.

If I can muster it or find something to really show, I'm also gonna cut a new trailer with new titles etc.

Wow, for a small budget feature this looks really, really good. I'm not one for purchasing micro-budget indie films, but I would actually buy a copy for this.

Hey all,

No real updates as of now. Still in the finishing phase but now that it's slowed downfor the end of the year it should be a bit easier to tackle. Still have some final sound work to be done (design, portions of score, stereo mix), titles and credits, color, poster.

But looks like end of the year is a realistic target.

Will update again and hopefully with a poster to show and an update trailer for early next year.
 
Hey man,

The trailer is great. I'm most impressed with the work you did with the actors. They seem to properly "click" together and deliver a genuine performance without being too over the top. This is something a lot of people fail to deliver when working on indie projects, but you seemed to have properly pulled it off. So great work from you and your actors.

I'm extremely amazed at the fact that you made a feature for such a small budget and one that looks as fun and interesting as this one.

My only problem with what I saw is some of the visual effects; while I don't expect them to be top-Hollywood grade, I could easily spot some Videocopilot stock footage in there. This probably isn't an issue with most viewers, but these specific effects have plagued web videos in many badly-used compositions. I think that when deciding to use stock footage of any kind, especially something as popular as Action Essentials 2, you really need to work on hiding it well so that it doesn't pop out for people who play around with it. In this case, a lot of people know Andrew Kramer's work.

I'm just nitpicking on something this small because the rest of the package is impressive.
