THE TORN DRESS is a title I failed

The title is: THE TORN DRESS. Can you think of a story having this title?

I had this on an exam and I failed.
Can you come up with an interesting story which title is: The torn dress?

Being the product of the ruthlessly efficient British schooling system (I was regularly beaten :P ) I think I get what's being asked...

Sometimes, especially when you're really young but it probably continues up until about 15 or 16, you're given a kind of abstract phrase to build a story or essay around. I remember that for GCSE (which we sit at 16) I had to write something based on 'The Greatest Teacher I've Ever Known'. Yep, it was pretty dull.

The Torn Dress sounds more interesting (although when I was between 5 and 10 I used to get given these cute things to write stories about. Phrases like The Key or The Last Trees) and yes, I'm pretty sure that I could find something to write about based on that title.

Heck, I just have.

Can I come up with a story titled, The Torn Dress? Yeah. Will other people find it as interesting as me? Probably not but hopefully so. Reminds me of my jr high english class, I usually did well with those abstract/creative writing exercises.

Common guys, nobody came up with a good story yet.

The story I wrote
was about a girl, who goes on a first date.
While waiting for her date, she comes across a childhood friend, who's in love with her.
Her date arrives, but the childhood friend tears her dress apart. She is embarrassed.. But she is even more beautiful without a dress...
My mistake was that I made the "date" take his pants off in consideration with the girl, so she doesn't feel embarrassed. STUPID

Sounds like you have a stupid teacher. I don't see how you can fail someone one an abstract thinking test. By trying to grade(catagorize) something abstract, it becomes not abstract?? Doesn't make much sense to me??? Were you graded on grammar or something???

Here's a quick idea: A little girl gets a new dress for a holiday thing. She spends all her time at the party worrying about the dress. Then, she accidentally tears her dress. She is sad, but then she realizes that the dress can be mended and its not that big of a deal. The little girl enjoys the rest of the party playing, making new friends, and getting her dress ever so dirty.

And they all lived happily ever after.

HAHA
Good

Nothing funny there.

So am i correct in understanding that each applicant had to write an essay and not getting accepted is what you meant by failing the exam?

We had to create a story, which we directly had to put on stage with actors.

The examiners see the short play on stage only, not the screenplay, and if we pass, the next exam is to shoot the same short story me directed on stage

This is Bulgaria state funded Film Academy, yo
