I've been shopping around looking for a good mic setup. I've read in past threads that if you're running the sound into the camera, it's best to put it through a mixer first. So, I picked I was wondering if this cheap mixer (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=380736&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation) would get the job done. I'm not exactly rolling in cash right now , so I'm also wondering how much of a necessity a mixer is in the first place? I'm probably going with an azden mic and shock mount and an $80-90 boom pole. Just something to hopefully get the job done. Any advice?
Edit: I was also looking at something like this (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=136400&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation) since I'm going to have to convert that XLR into mini anyway. Could I use something like that instead of a mixer?
