Hi everyone!

Quick question...I'm writing my first animation and woundering how to write someone talking among themself?

Example:

EXT. BACK ROAD-DAY
A runned down pick-up truck pulls off to the side of the road. A man gets out of the passenger's side of the truck; grabs a medium sized black lab named Willy that sits beside him, dropping him off on the side of the road beside a cow farm. The truck peals off down the road.

Is this one right?

WILLY
(To himself)
Where am I?

or is this one the right way?

WILLY
(Willy's voice)
Where am I?

OR--are eaither one of them right?

Please let me know.

THANKS!

Since Willy is the only one in the scene at that point you can probably leave out the parenthetical.

Or just add an a line in the action portion and then drop the parenthetical.. something like this maybe..

Willy looks after the truck as it tears down the road. He mutters to himself as he slowly strolls along the roadside.

WILLY
Where am I?

The question is... Is WILLY going to actually be speaking or will it be a V.O.?
If the dog's not going to speak the words then make sure you include the V.O. in the parens.
